We Are SXU Day
Dear SXU Community:
We are the proud heirs to the legacy created by the Sisters of Mercy who instill in us the tenacity to rise above any challenge. Saint Xavier's foremothers faced many dire situations and overcame every one of them to preserve and steward our mission. We are doing the same during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) crisis by committing to do whatever it takes to effectively serve our students and each other during this unprecedented time.
In response to this global pandemic, Saint Xavier will transition to remote learning for the remainder of the spring semester and close the residence halls to protect the health and well-being of our students, faculty and staff. While the learning format may be changing, our dedicated faculty and staff will continue to deliver the same high-quality education as before. You can keep up to date on our response to COVID-19.
Per federal guidelines on social distancing and minimizing group interactions, we are canceling the social gatherings that were planned for We Are SXU Day on March 25. Instead, we are shifting the focus of We Are SXU Day to the immediate crisis and the unanticipated financial implications of COVID-19 on Saint Xavier -- and particularly on our students, many of whom are vulnerable to the economic disruptions of COVID-19.
This unprecedented moment alters the economic landscape for us all and challenges us to carefully balance our own financial situation with our desire to support those causes we care about most deeply. If you are able, I ask that you still consider making a gift to support our students on March 25. Donations large and small will be used effectively and efficiently to take care of the most pressing needs of our students and the Saint Xavier community. To those of you who have already made a donation, thank you.
I offer my continued prayers for good health and peace for you and your families, and ask that you please keep Saint Xavier and our students in yours.
