Cougar Peer Mentors (CPM)

Commuter Student Programs is the umbrella term for a program that oversees all commuter services offered from the Office of Student Life. Outreach to commuters would fall into three distinct areas:

  1. Programming -- social opportunities, disseminate information to commuters via newsletter, email, social media
  2. Mentorship -- provide opportunities for mentorship to serve to all commuter students of SXU
  3. Advocacy -- work to address day-to-day concerns commuters may have with interaction, involvement, enrichment, engagement, etc.

As commuter students here at SXU, you'll have a uniquely different experience than that of our resident students. Commuting during your first year, in particular, can be very challenging -- and sometimes overwhelming. To that end, the Office of Student Life oversees a number of programs that help provide opportunities for commuter students to connect with one another, learn about campus resources and to get involved in the SXU community.

Our CPMs are charged with creating programs and services that connect commuter and resident students to the SXU community. CPMs will serve as a resource and advocate for the needs of all first-years and will help support students as they work to balance commuting, academic and co-curricular success at SXU.

CPMs are #firstyearproud and are here to answer your questions, relay what is going on at SXU and advocate for you with any concerns you may have as a commuter! Their current headquarters is in the Student Life Office (L-103) of the Warde Academic Center.
